Installment Two

“Cheap Change” Installment 2


Assembly of BD Flying Geese (uses (36) Color B 4 ½ inch by 2 ½ inch rectangles and (72) Color D 2 ½ inch squares):

Putting right sides together, place one Color D square on the Color B rectangle oriented this way:


Sew on the drawn line and trim ¼ inch from the sewn line, according to the diagram:

 

Press open.  Place a second 2 ½ inch square, right sides together, according to the following diagram:

Sew on the drawn line, trim ¼ inch from the sewn line and press open.  You should have this unit:

Make 36 of these BD Flying Geese units.  Eighteen of these will be used in the next step and eighteen will be set aside for a later step.

Unit II Construction:  (Uses (9) Color A 4 ½ inch squares and (18) BD Flying Geese Units)

Construct Unit I using the following diagram, being careful to orient your AC Flying Geese the same way:

Press towards the 4 ½ inch square.

You should have a total of nine Unit II’s at the end of this step.

Assembling of Unit III  (Uses (18) BD Flying Geese and (36) AB Half-Square Triangles)

Assemble Unit III according to the diagram, being careful to orient the each piece correctly:


Press towards the AB Half-Square Triangle.

You should have (18) Unit III’s at the end of this step.

Assembling of Unit IV  (Uses (8) AC Flying Geese and (16) Color C 2 ½ inch squares)

Assemble according to the following diagram:


Press towards Color C squares.

At the end of this step, you should have eight of Unit IV’s.

This completes Installment 2 and you are half-way through the mystery!  Have another piece of chocolate to celebrate a job well-done!
